Hyder and the Bears, what we have been looking for, most of our trip.

August 15, Friday
These carvings were at the RV park at the beginning of the Cassiar Highway as it intersects the Alaska Highway.     Leaving our RV park this am, got into Stewart this afternoon, finished the Cassiar highway, whew. It was rough, muddy and lots of potholes. Glad that is over, and looking forward now to some bears!!

The last few miles we saw lots of Glaciers, the Bear Glacier is right on the highway, melting into the lake.

All tucked in, and ready to go into Hyder.  Crossing over the Alaska border, no US border patrol here, only going back into Canada do we have to show our passports.  Walking out the bear viewing area in the National park, looking at the salmon swimming upstream and waiting….
 and waiting….
and waiting….and....suddenly a grizzly just comes around the corner in the river. They call him "Jaws".

He is very active and looking, jumping and catching salmon right under the boardwalk.  Its amazing.  I can’t get enough of taking pictures and I’m not the only one, everywhere around me is the “click, click, click” of cameras and videos going off. Seems like no one else can get enough of them either.

He's fishing for his salmon, dinner and dessert.

got it!! What a pretty fish.

but he doesn't like anyone to watch him eat it.

 then he's out for more...

and that was just our first night here!  I'm loving this place.  Stayed out there 'til late and headed back to the RV to get up early in the morning.
