Alaska Bound...on the road

Rain, rain...go away ...on I-10 west, but keep raining in San Antonio. We so need  this rain, but wanting to get in the road for our trip. Thunder and lightening all night, woke to drizzle but another storm was headed our way. Got the last refrigerator items together, dressed and headed to the RV to hook up. Made it out of Boerne just as the rains started. Pulled over in Comfort, TX...opened the sides on the RV and enjoyed the sounds of rain hitting the roof. Napped and ate lunch, back on the road again. 

Alaska Bound! Our Newest Adventure

  Our next adventure is the RV trip to Alaska.  We've been delayed a few days, as Lin has been a bit sick for the last month.  Trying to "nurse" him back to health and then get on the road in the next few days.  
  The RV is almost packed.  Meals cooked/frozen...check, clothes packed...check, truck & RV tires changed...check, bills are paid...check, mail is taken care of...thank you Daniel!!...check.  What else is there?? Oh, yeah, lots of sewing projects cut out and ready to work on...check!!
  Ok, I'm ready!!  Look for the next installment as soon as we get on the road.  Love having Daniel so close to help with the house, mail and my mother just in case.  Rachel is still in town for a few more weeks to help out also.  Brandon is still in College Station after graduation, finished his MCAT and awaiting the score as he applies to Med Schools.  Daniel is also starting back to school for his Nursing degree, so still have children in school! Rachel is working on her last few hours to finish her degree also.  Come on guys, get'er done!!

Graduation!! Texas A&M...Brandon

Good Morning!  
   Last week, our youngest, Brandon, graduated from Texas A&M.  We are so proud of him, a wonderful accomplishment.  Not the end of his accomplishments, but the beginning of many more.  What a wonderful trip there to spend some time with all his friends, our family and just to see his graduation. Great job, Brandon!!

Embroidery Projects

So, I have a new embroidery machine!! I am learning new skills everyday.  The first thing I made was a zipper purse that is made completely in the hoop. I made several for Christmas gifts on my first embroidery machine, but it would only make small purses.  This new machine has a larger hoop, so larger purses!! I can embroider a pattern on the purse as it is sewing, so I don't have to take it out of the hoop at all. I love it! I even made a few with a mesh type material on the front, so you can see thru them.

Minky backing on this quilt. Found out I love quilting on Minky, not only is it so fun to just touch, but it loves to be quilted!! And look at that green, is that just now begging to be cuddled up to?

Such a beautiful day. The smell of ocean, sound of sea gulls thru the window. The sun coming up over the Gulf. Taking a picture is not enough, it doesn't capture the assault on the senses.  But that's all I can share now.  That, and these words are all we have to let others share this moment in time. Don't waste it!

So this is my new creation! Taking an old pair of jeans and giving it a new life. It will now have a place of honor in the kitchen when cooking at the annual Cookie Bake.  Thinking of making one for all the girls at the Cookie Bake. What do you think? I found the cutest material to trim it with, lots of Christmas gingerbread men.  Made a few of these for Hannaruth and her friend.  She loved them also.  Found out they sell really well also, but will need to find a market to sell them on.  Maybe here on this blog? Still thinking on that one.
